Cafe Art are a unique initiative showcasing artwork created by people affected by homelessness or are socially vulnerable.
They are looking for volunteers for the following events:
First event: Award ceremony at Atlantis Art Materials, Brick Lane on Friday 16 May from 10.30am to 2pm
This event is to hand out art materials vouchers to the art groups run by London’s homelessness sector charities, including Crisis, Providence Row, The Connection at St Martin-in-the-fields and St Mungo’s Broadway.
Thousands of pounds worth of vouchers, bought with the proceeds from the sale of the 2014 calendar, and donated by IKEA after the exhibition last month, will be presented to the artists and groups and we need a hand setting up tables and handing out ‘goodie bags’ of art materials to homeless people from the art groups.
Second event: Camera handout with The Royal Photographic Society at St Paul’s Cathedral on Wednesday 2 July from 10.30am to 3pm.
We need volunteers to help sign out 100 single use recyclable (“disposable”) cameras. You will work alongside volunteers from The Royal Photographic Society. There may be a possibility to pass on photographic tips and advice if you are an experienced photographer.
