When I first saw this structure, I thought it would make an interesting shot but the light wasn’t quite right. I returned about an hour later. I approached from the front and this man was bathing in beautiful golden light. I hurried around to the back to capture the shadow.
Matthew Pritchard has been carrying a camera around with him since the early days of digital. While he still shoots digital, he has recently discovered analogue and develops his own black and white images.
Congratulations to this year’s Honourable Mentions. You can read more about the images and photographers on our Facebook page.

A big thank you to our judge Filip Gierlinski and to everyone who attended our Private View on 16 May 2018.
Street photography is the observation of juxtaposition and humour, capturing the quirky moments of life in an everyday urban environment. It depicts the relationship between people v. architecture and how they live in and use the space.
You can see Filip’s Best in Show, runners up and honourable mentions at our Festival 17-19 May and on our Facebook page.
Featured Festival Photographer:
We will also be exhibiting the winners and runners up in our cities/water photography competition at this month’s Festival. Leah Oates is from Brooklyn, New York and her image received an honourable mention.
